“So what’s new?”
You’ve been asked this question a million times. And chances are there hasn’t really been anything new about 75% of the times you’ve been asked. At Legion, we’re just waiting for someone to ask us because we have a lot of new stuff right now.
That’s your cue.
Okay, I’m going to tell you anyway.
New New Business Development Group
The two “news” in the header are not a mistake. We have a new division here at Legion called New Business Development. After being in business for six years, we decided it was time to make a change in the way our sales floor was organized. Since the beginning, our Problem Solvers (brokers) have been responsible for creating their own book of business and personally servicing those customers.
Now our New Business Development group will be handling prospecting and closing new customers.
New Problem Solver Job Description
Because New Business Development is now responsible for finding new customers, our Problem Solvers have a more focused role – account management. And while they are still able to ship anything, they have the opportunity to specialize in certain equipment types, locations, or industries.
If you follow us on social media, or have read anything about the new Cincinnati soccer team, you may already know that Legion is sponsoring the student section – aka “The Legion” – at all of the FC Cincinnati home games. You’ll be hearing a lot more about this as the year progresses, but we are really excited about this opportunity to try something new with this brand new franchise!
Our FC sponsorship has put us in unfamiliar territory, and we want to make sure that we get our bang for the buck out of our sponsorship, and that FC reaps the benefit of naming us as a sponsor. As a result, we’ve decided to partner with Oohology to create an amazing campaign around FC. We are looking to them to create a cohesive message that will span every aspect of the sponsorship through the entire season.
Interns at Legion is nothing new. We love giving college students the opportunity to experience working for a small business. But we have five interns who are new to us this year – one in marketing and four in sales.
There is so much new here at Legion that I’ll be writing about all of these topics separately throughout the month. Be sure to check back!
