Tony’s original dream of a military career was cut short by a parachuting accident 10 years into his service. After being medically discharged, Tony ultimately landed in Cincinnati with some of his Army friends and found his calling in logistics. He soon became the top seller at the company he was working for and decided he could do it better.
Lacy is the daughter of a truck driver, so she understood early on the sacrifices that drivers and their families make every day. She put herself through school, earning her bachelors and masters degrees. Working for several businesses that didn’t appreciate their employees convinced her that she should start her own company where employees were valued and respected.
And so Legion Logistics® began September 26, 2009 as a one-woman operation in Tony and Lacy’s house in Union, Kentucky (Yes, they were married at one time). By 2012, the Legion employed eight people and it had officially outgrown the basement. Lacy and Tony’s neighbors were also tired of the impromptu parking lot that had sprouted on their quiet, residential street. So the Legion began scouting for new space, ultimately landing just off I-75 in Florence, Kentucky.
In 2009 the Legion did $12,000 in sales. In 2015, sales reached $26 million. The Legion now employs over 50 people. The mismatched Ikea furniture has been replaced with official office furniture installed by official office furniture people. Not only does it look nice, it’s also going to fit more employees, which is a definite necessity!
